En vista de la discusión en el Parlamento del tercer memorandum, una huelga general fue convocada para el 6 y 7 de Noviembre. El Martes, todo el transporte público, taxis incluidos, estaban en huelga, lo que impidió a una mayor participación al evento.

El Miércoles, 7 de Noviembre por la mañana, justo cuando iniciasen en el Parlamento los debates sobre el proyecto de ley de nuevas medidas de austeridad (Memorandum II) el paritdo de SYRIZA y de los Griegos Independientes presentaron una objeción a la compatibilidad constitucional del proyecto. De acuerdo con los ponentes de ambos partidos, los párrafos relativos a los recortes en los salarios y las pensiones eran inconstitucionales y que el procedimiento de urgencia, por la cual el proyecto de ley fue presentado en el Parlamento, preve sólo 10 horas de discusión, aunque varios miembros del Parlamento han recibido el texto esta mañana.

En vue de la discussion au Parlement du Mémorandum III, une grève générale a été appelée pour le 6 et le 7 novembre. Mardi, tous les transports publics, taxis inclus, ont été en grève, ce qui a empêché une large participation à la manifestation.

Mercredi matin, 7 novembre, une fois que les discussions sur le projet de loi pour les nouvelles mesures d'austérité (Mémorandum III) ont commencé au Parlement grec, Syriza et les Grecs Indépendants ont déposé une objection sur la compatibilité du projet avec la Constitution. Selon les rapporteurs des deux partis, les paragraphes concernant les coupes des salaires et des pensions étaient anticonstitutionnelles, ainsi que la procédure d'urgence par laquelle le projet a été déposé au Parlement, puisqu'elle ne laisse que 10 heures de discussion, même si plusieurs membres du Parlement n'avaient reçu le texte que ce matin là.

Dimanche 21 octobre, les résidents de Chalikidiki ont réalisé encore un rassemblement et manifestation à Skouries, afin de protester contre la concession d'une très grande superficie forestière à la compagnie canadienne El Dorado, qui compter utiliser la région pour extraire de l'or. Presque 2000 gens ont participé à la mobilisaiton et ont subi une violence policière et repression sans précédent. Certains ont dit que la police "avait comme but de les tuer", puisqu'à part l'utilisation habituelle des gaz lacrymogènes, la police a chassé les manifestants dans la forêt, tandis que plusieurs manifestants ont dénoncé que la police anti-émeute a cassé les fenêtres des voitures et lancé des gaz lacrymogènes à leur intérieur, pendant que les véhicules bougeaint.

Dans un cas, les policiers ont forcé une femme à sortir de son véhicule et l'ont battu très violemment, et par conséquent elle a dû être transférée à l'hôpital.

El Domingo, 21 de Octubre, los residentes de Jalkidikí realizaron una vez más una manifestación y una marcha hacía Skuriés para protestar en contra de la concesión de una gran superficie forestal a la empresa forestal canadiense El Dorado que tiene la intención de explotar el área para la extracción de oro. Aproximadamente 2.000 personas participaron en la movilización y sufrieron una violencia policial y represión sin precedentes. Algunos han afirmado que "la policía tenía como objetivo matarles", y más allá del gas lacrimógeno que es habitual, la policía inició una persecución de los manifestantes por el bosque. Muchos de los manifestantes se quejaron de que los antidisturbios rompían los cristales de los coches  y tiraban en el interior de ellos gases lacrimógenos mientras estaban en movimiento. En un caso, la policía sacó con violencia a una mujer de su coche y la golpearon tan brutalmente que acabó en urgencias en un hospital .

Pogrom against Pakistanis at Nikaia

New attacks by extreme-right wing groups against Pakistanis took place last Friday and Saturday night in Nikaia (Piraeus suburb). After the threats and the ultimatums that were distributed amongst Pakistani shop owners by groups of the extreme right –Golden Dawn –according to eyewitnesses- and after the anti-racism demonstration of last Thursday, the racist groups struck again.

“Around 10.30 on Friday evening 10 people on 5 motorbikes, attacked Pakistanis who were sitting in front of their house in 15, Iktinou Street. The Pakistanis were kicked, punched and beaten with clubs”, as the President of the Pakistani community, Javed Aslam, notes.

“Some of the attackers wore T-Shirts with the symbols of Golden Dawn”, he says. The migrants went into the yard of their house but the extreme right wingers forced their way in by breaking the door with hammers. Two migrants were beaten in the face and the third one in the legs. When the police arrived, they arrested 14 Pakistanis who had come to help –as mr Aslam states- the others.

The attacks continued on Saturday evening. “Around 23.00 three migrants returned home from the mosque when they were stopped on the street by a large group of motorbikes. They were beaten with brass knuckles. One of them has a broken nose”, says mr. Aslam.

The “Movement Against Racism and the Fascist Threat” denounces that the beaten Pakistanis had to wait all night on Friday at the Police Station of Nikaia in order to file a complaint, while 7 of the 14 migrants who were detained, were tried and sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment and a 2.000 € fine for entering the country illegally, with a three-year suspension.

Police abuse caught on camera

The video below goes viral across social media at the moment, showing a bunch of police officers - a couple of them in plain clothes - abusing verbally and physically an immigrant while being in custody. The man allegedly set alight a trash bin, putting at risk the cars parked in close proximity. The Facebook user who uploaded the footage 6 hours ago, has reported the incident at the UN Refugee Agency of Greece, claiming it took place in the end of January (2012) without confirming the exact location though.
